Frequently Asked Questions

 

Why am I asked to pay for a drop/in when I already have a membership?

Because you can only be signed up for 5 classes at once. You have to wait until you have attended one of the five classes before you can sign up for another one. 

How many classes can I sign up for at once? 

      You can reserve a spot for now more than 5 classes at one time. 

 

How does payment work? 

        You pay with a credit card and your monthly payment will get pulled the same date as you signed up every month.

How can I get a membership when I already have a free profile?

Log in to your profile. Here you will find options to buy membership, drop/in or clip/card under PRICES.

 

I don't have a mat!...

No stress! We have mats available for free. We also have a variety of eco-friendly durable mats available for purchase, we proudly carry Manduka mats.

 

Can I store my mat? 

Yes!

We have our very own yoga mat membership. 

You pay for three months at a time, and the price is price 250,- NOK for every three month interval.

Do I need to pre-register for classes?

Yes. We do ask you to please sign up for the class so you secure yourself a spot.

 

I am not a member, can I still come and take a class?

Yes! Both drop-in classes and clip cards can be bought through our booking system.

 

Can I book classes as a drop-in or with my ukeskort?

Yes.  Classes are booked through our booking system.

 

How early should I arrive for class?

We recommend coming 15 min before the class starts. This gives you enough time to change and set up your mat. If the class is fully booked our booking system will automatically release your spot and assign it to a person on the waiting list if you have not checked in 10 min prior to class start.

 

I'm running late. Can I still come to class? 

If it is during store opening hours call us and we will put a mat out for you! Once you have come please do so respectfully and quietly. If it is after store hours we unfortunately cannot accommodate latecomers. But please try to arrive fashionably early, be respectful to your fellow yogis, instructor and your own practice!

 

What if the door is locked?

If the door is locked and you are waiting to join the next class, we open the doors 15 min before your class starts! Just be patient.  
 

What do I do if I am a beginner? 

Look for the flow classes that are marked with a "I" and the slower classes such as any variation of the yin and restorative classes, these will be perfect for you if you have never tried yoga before. Don’t wear socks to the flow classes, you’ll slip, and don’t worry about being new, we all start somewhere! Yoga is supposed to be fun!

 

What do I wear to Yoga?

Try to wear something comfortable! Try to avoid compression running tights or anything with zippers and buttons. It can be nice with a light sweater for after the practice during the final resting pose!

 

Do you offer an advanced class?

Yes! Look for a classes marked "II" and "III". These classes are designed for students with a steady practice looking to dive into more advanced variations of asana and flow.  

 

Do you offer private instruction at Leela Yoga?

Yes, private yoga sessions can be booked with any of our instructors. Please email or call us for reservations.

 

I am pregnant, can I still do yoga?

Yes of course! If you are new to yoga we ask that you ask your medical provider first. If you had a regular yoga practice before getting pregnant, just take any classes that feel good to you! We have some expecting mothers who only take the active classes and some mothers who decide to slow it down. Listen to your body! Make sure you tell your teacher that you are expecting, so that they may assist you during class.

 

Do you offer pre-natal and/or mum+baby yoga?

Yes we do! The knowledgable Leela-instructor Silje, she has several courses tailored to pregnancy, mum+baby, and postpartum. Have a look under our courses to see when their next course starts.

 

I don’t speak Norwegian! Do you have any classes in English?

We sure do! Every class on the schedule shows if it is possible for the class to be taught in english (en). If the class is marked with (en), simply let the teacher know you prefer an english class. 

Are there any showers?

Yes!! We have showers, sauna (upon request), changing rooms and cubbies with keys to lock all your personal belongings in!

I want to use the sauna, what do I do?

The sauna is open upon request within reseption working hours. Call, email or let us know in passing if you want to use it.

Do you have restrooms?

Yes, we do have two restrooms. One is a spacious handicap friendly one.

 

Is there parking available?

There is no parking right outside, so you may need to park a block or two away.

Walking or Biking

- 13 min walk or  4 min bike ride from Oslo S and Barcode. 

- 15 min walk or 4 min bike ride from Tøyen Torg.

- 15 min walk or 4 min bike ride from Vålerenga.

- 15 min walk or 4 min bike ride from Ekebergparken.

- 15 min walk or 4 min bike ride from Arctanderbyen.

- 18 min walk or 5 min bike ride from Kampen.

- 20 min walk or 7 min bike ride from Schous Plass, Grunerløkka.

Public Transport

It's super easy to get here by public transport.

Bus #54 to St. Halvards Gate stops literally right outside the studio. Bus #20 to Galgeberg, bus #37, #100 or #110 to Harald Hårdrådes Plass or Galgeberg (stops both places), bus #74 and #34 to St. Halvards Plass as well as tram #13 or #19 or bus #70 to Middelalderparken are all located just a couple of minutes walk away.

 

By Car

There is no parking right outside, but you should be able to find street parking only a block or two away.

I’d like to apply for a job at Leela?

Great! We are honored you want to become a part of our yoga family! We do, however, have all the teachers we need at the moment but we post any job openings on our social media accounts.

We also have a strict policy that everyone who applies have already practiced here at Leela Yoga for at least 6 months so that they know our community, and our energy, and we know them. That way we know you really want to teach at Leela, and we are sure to get good fits and long lasting relationships.
